• PELASyS Heading to Dallas Texas

I will be in Dallas Texas from 9/8-9/12/2013 at an Exact Macola partner meeting.  I will be checking for calls periodically, and will have full internet access.  I hope to return with exciting news for my Macola clients.

  • {Alert 9/4/2013} Macola ES Clients with Avast AntiVirus

If you are having issues with printing crystal reports from Macola ES, check the Avast Virus Chest.  It is likely that Avast has removed a program named E4report.exe.  Restore this file, and add an exclusion for the c:\program files\exact software or c:\program files (x86)\exact software folder.  Avast is detected the Exact Software as a false positive.

  • After the installation of Microsoft Windows Updates (08/14/2012), VBA error in Macola and/or Microsoft Excel

The recent Microsoft Windows Updates have affected the Microsoft Windows Common Controls 6.0.   Both of the updates KB2687323 and KB2687441 affect the Microsoft Windows Common Controls 6.0 components.   To simply, re-register the file for the Microsoft Windows Common Controls will correct this issue.

The following steps will take you through manually re-registering this file:

    1. Go to Start \ All Programs \ Accessories \ Command Prompt.
Please note: If running Windows 7 or Windows 2008, you will need to Right Click on the Command Prompt application and launch it with the “Run as Administrator” option.
    2. Enter one of the following command lines depending on the type of operating system which you are using:
      For 32-bit Operating Systems: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx
      For 64-bit Operating Systems: regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\mscomctl.ocx
    3. Click OK on the message box that the file has registered successfully.   If the message box indicates that the file could not be found, then please verify that you are running the correct command line for your operating system or that the path to the Windows Folder is correct.

You can also call, or email me and I can email a BAT file that you will have to rename then double click that should fix the issue.

    Best Regards,

    Patrick Looney

  • Engage NJ – 2012 Notes (May 14-15 2012)

(05/20/20120) Last Week I attended Exact’s Engage Regional User Conference in New Jersey.  This was the first year with the Regional format, and Engage was one day shorter than normal.  Overall I would have to say the conference was very positve.  I did see more local clients than would normally attend as the event took place within a drive time radius for us here in Connecticut.

Key Takeaway that I would like to Share :

Road maps for Macola Progression and Macola ES where presented which included support for the future release of Windows 8, SQL 2011, and Crystal Reports 2011. Note the turn around time from the Microsoft release to the Exact release of supported product has been significately reduced. For those who are looking to keep on the leading edge, this should be good news.  For the rest of us, it means they will be ready when you are. It was also reviewed that Windows XP and SQL 2000 are both approaching their end of support window with Mircosoft.  Clients running either of these products should start to plan for upgrading these products.  A future update to the Macola ES User Interface was announced.  A new product was released “Exact Navigator”.  This product is the glue between Exact’s front office product (Synergy ESE)and Macola ES.

Classes, Classes, Classes, this year with a two day event, the number of sessions had to be cut down, as such the General session and closing session were eliminated.  It was good to see some local clients at the show.  I would love to hear what you thought.  I would also encourage letting Exact known, and a major take away was that Exact is listing.

  • Service Bulliten – MacolaES and Excel

Exact MacolaES Clients – Error when Opening Excel Since recent Windows Update

Since a recent Microsoft Windows Update you may recive the following error:

“Object library invalid or contains references to object definitions that could not be found”.

If So then you need to delete the EXD files from the folders listed below:

    On Windows XP:

    C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Microsoft\Forms\

On Windows Vista and Windows 7:

    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Microsoft\Forms\ or C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Forms\ or C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\VBE

You could also do a search for all files like *.EXD and delete the files from the directories when they are found.  Note you may have to turn on the hidden files and folders search option in both  cases.
